Waycross Georgia native, Maurice Simmons has been a gospel preacher for 34 years. His evangelist ministry began on the campus of South Georgia College in 1970. He has spread the “Good News” of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in tent meetings and revivals on college campuses as well in various cities throughout West and South Georgia. He is the son of Mother Blondell Simmons and the late William Simmons. He has three brothers and two sisters.
In 1972, after graduating from South Georgia College, he transferred to West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia. While attending West Georgia College, he continued to preach the gospel. As a result, he co-founded the first Inter-Denominational campus ministry on West Georgia College campus, PUG (People United for God). Weekly services were held in the campus chapel, where many young people came and confessed Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Several renown evangelists and pastors were saved through the campus ministries at West and South Georgia Colleges.
While attending West Georgia, he met his wife, the former Juliett Montgomery. She is also a product of the campus ministry at West Georgia College. They have worked for the Lord with singleness of heart throughout their 32 years of marriage. They served as associate ministers in the Rome Georgia area prior to relocating to Calhoun.
In. 1990, the Lord called Pastor Simmons to pioneer a church in Calhoun, Georgia. He serves as Senior Pastor of Victory Fellowship Center/Armour Of God Ministries, Inc. He operates in the calling of a Pastor/Teacher. He teaches and instructs with simplicity and a touch of humor. His heart’s desire is to teach believers to live in victory, walk in integrity and to enjoy Jesus!
